The 2012 November Pileup Accident Comes to a Settlement
More than 100 vehicles collided on Interstate 10 between Houston and Beaumont on November 22, 2012. Dozens of people were injured during a chain-reaction accident that resulted in a 120-140 auto collision, blaming the heavy fog as the major factor in the November 2012 pileup, reported authorities.
Pearland couple, Vincent and Debra Leggio, who were in their 60's, died when a truck slammed into their white SUV. The Leggios were the only fatalities.
Now, the two children of the couple of the two couples killed in a massive collision last year on Interstate 10 in Jefferson County have reached a civil lawsuit settlement suing the truck driver and the trucking company.
A Beaumont spokesman stated they have concluded a settlement on Monday afternoon (December 23, 2013) with the truck driver and trucking company that were being sued in Jefferson Country. Attorneys for the truck driver and trucking company maintained that the fog was the main cause of the fatal accident. Both sides had agreed to a undisclosed settlement amount.
