Crockett, Tx - Update: According to DPS, the man who was killed in the wreck has been identified as Teddy Chance of Milam.

A total of eight other people were injured, including a construction flagger for Pinton Construction, according to TXDOT. Three were flown via helicopter to Tyler and Dallas, and five others were taken to ETMC - Crockett.

The wreck happened when three passenger vehicles who were stopped at a construction zone were run over by the 18-wheeler carrying lumber. The lumber truck did not brake; investigators are working to find out why.

More information is expected to be released on Tuesday.

A four-vehicle wreck east of Crockett has killed one person and injured eight others.

The accident happened shortly before 11:00 a.m., one mile east of Crockett on Highway 7.

According to officials on the scene, one person has died and eight others were transported to hospitals in Crockett, Tyler and Dallas.

A tractor-trailer rig carrying lumber apparently ran over multiple vehicles, although officials are still trying to determine the cause.

One of the vehicles, a truck, was carrying a woman and her three daughters. They were transported to ETMC - Crockett.

Two helicopters landed at ETMC in Tyler, with one patient in each, according to KETK crews on the scene.

Another helicopter transported a child to Children's Medical Center in Dallas.
