18-wheeler evades fatal accident with truck

An incident occurred on between a pick-up truck and a 18-wheeler vehicle, hauling gravel around 8 a.m on Highway 16 and 114 that Monday morning, January 20th.

Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Tres Lattimore said that the 18-wheeler was heading west on 114 when a pick-up truck headed south on 16 pulled in front of the 18-wheeler.

According to Lattimore, the 18-wheeler was heading west on 114 from Jacksboro when a pick-up truck headed south on 16 pulled in front of the 18-wheeler.

No injuries were reported during the collision, due to maneuvering from the 18-wheeler driver.

“We had a highly skilled 18-wheeler driver, so when the truck pulled out, he took evasive action and swerved to the south,” said Lattimore.

The 18 wheeler driver, Gene Van Baale, 68-years-old from Jacksboro, said he swerved to the south to try and avoid the pick-up truck, but incidentally crashed with the truck, and overturning the vehicle on the west side of the road.
