Truck crash kills young driver

APD report 7th fatal car accident of 2012

AUSTIN (kxan) - Jordan Gibbs Nash, 23, died early Sunday morning in a car crash, according to Austin police officers who responded to the scene in the 5500 block of Shoal Creek Boulevard.

The 2008 Chevy pickup truck was headed south on Shoal Creek Boulevard when Nash lost control of the truck as he drove around a curve. The truck hit a tree, killing Nash and injuring a passenger who was with him.

Officers are unsure if the driver was wearing a seatbelt.

Nash was pronounced dead on the scene while the passenger was transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge . The passenger was wearing a seatbelt and treated for minor injuries.

Austin Police Department is still investigating the incident. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call APD Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at 512-974-8212.
